Description

The following application allows determining the resistant capacity of open and closed thin-wall sections (made of different materials) subjected to axial, biaxial bending, bimoment, Shear, Saint Venant torsion (closed) and warping torsion. It includes the study of Class 1,2 plastic, Class 3 elastic and Class 4 sections with effective widths (Figure 1, Figure 2) to take into account the local buckling.

The following tool provides elastic and plastic design of sections in class 1, 2 plastic behavior or 3 elastic behavior and class 4 including the local buckling subjected to axial, biaxial bending, bimoment, shear, warping torsion and Saint Venant torsion (closed).

Expected learning outcomes

The objective is to determine the stresses and resistant capacity of open and closed thin-walled sections (made of different materials) susceptible of local buckling.

Quality assurance

The two-level mutual trust-based quality assurance scheme has been adopted:

  • at the university level: Universitat Politècnica de València has applied its internal quality assurance procedures and structures to the proposal of Thin wall section Class 1,2,3,4 it submitted to ENHANCE and to its implementation - the related learning activities,
  • at the Alliance level: the body composed of Education Officers has made decisions regarding the inclusion of Thin wall section Class 1,2,3,4 proposed by Universitat Politècnica de València to the Innovative Learning Campus part of the joint ENHANCE educational offer, based on the compliance with the formal requirements and ENHANCE goals.
