Description
The following application allows to obtain the movements, internal forces of the compressed beam columns, bent about the strong, weak and torsional axis with any type of monosymmetrical section, susceptible to lateral buckling. To do this, the magnitudes of the equivalent imperfections are given and the imperfect structure in the plane and out of the plane is analyzed.
The analysis is carried out in the plane and out of the plane of the structure.
Expected learning outcomes
Determine the existing internal forces and movements in perfect and imperfect structures with linear and non-linear behavior. The analysis is carried out in the plane and outside the plane of the structure, taking into account imperfections in both cases. With monosymmetric sections.
Learning opportunity structure
The section properties, materials, loads, and in-plane and out-of-plane boundary conditions are selected. Different graphs are obtained as results that show the internal forces and movements of the perfect and imperfect structure (inside and out of the plane) in linear and nonlinear calculation, for monosymmetric sections.

Quality assurance
The two-level mutual trust-based quality assurance scheme has been adopted:
- at the university level: Universitat Politècnica de València has applied its internal quality assurance procedures and structures to the proposal of Imperfection Beam Monosymmetric General - Virtual Lab it submitted to ENHANCE and to its implementation - the related learning activities,
- at the Alliance level: the body composed of Education Officers has made decisions regarding the inclusion of Imperfection Beam Monosymmetric General - Virtual Lab proposed by Universitat Politècnica de València to the Innovative Learning Campus part of the joint ENHANCE educational offer, based on the compliance with the formal requirements and ENHANCE goals.

Further Information
The following tools facilitate in-plane and out-of-plane elastic and plastic design of slender steel metallic structures with sections in class 1, 2 plastic behavior or 3 elastic behavior susceptible to buckling due to bending and/or compression. The sections are monosymmetric shaped.
